About

Beethoven Sources: a catalogue raisonné.

Beethoven Sources will collect sketches, autograph scores, corrected copies, first editions and other primary sources of Beethoven's music – from libraries worldwide.

The catalogue serves two main purposes:

  • to index musical sources created, supervised or approved by Beethoven himself;
  • to give a single, easy-to-use access point to different collections of those sources.
  • Currently, the catalogue is in a prototype phase: it will be progressively expanded and updated. The first phase will cover the body of Beethoven's Piano Sonatas.

    Beethoven Sources is a non-profit project released under a creative commons license. It is developed by the IT company Variance srl and an editorial board lead by Gabriele Riccobono.
